Cindy Leek - Guest Designer

Can you believe it is already the 21st of July?!
Where has this month went??
This week we have
Cindy Leek
a fabulous card designer with us to share her creativity as our Guest Desinger!
She has done a fabulous job!
But first let's get to know her....

"I work on my paper crafting full time.  I worked over 20 years as a Geriatric Social Worker and Nursing Home Administrator.  While I loved doing it, I finally realized that it was time for a second career.  I teach paper crafting at several big box craft stores and I also teach and hold crops in both my home and my studio.   Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on the faces of my students when they have created something special."
You can find more of her fabulous work at  www.paperspadsandpictures.blogspot.com

Now look at these gorgeous cards using Peace Fairy

Aren't these awesome!!

Thanks so much Cindy for being our guest designer this week!
There is still time to play along with this week's

Kristina aka Mama Bear Stonich - Guest DT

Hello Crafters!! It's that time again!!!!
This week we have another special guest designer with us.
She has created a GORGEOUS card to share with us.

Kristina used Lily the Fairy of Enchantment for her card.
Isn't she beautiful!!
Here are a couple different pictures so you can see the detail!

Now here is a little bit about Mama Bear:

I started scrapbooking  3 1/2 years ago when I got married. Noticing that I had a lot of small scraps I decided to try making cards. Which I prefer now. I also love to bake and crochet. I used 3 Lily the Fairy of Enchantment images. which I then colored with sakura glaze pens, water colors and gel pens. I used glossy accents for the wings. I used a craft knife to cut out the wings and Lily. then I used pop dots to reassemble the image. I also used ribbon, and embossed the sentiment.
I'm looking foward to seeing everyone else's creations :)

Thanks so much Kristina for being with us this week!
There is plenty of time to join the Cute as a Button challenge this week, just make sure you use a MPS image!

Carole of Brum - Guest Designer

It's time for another Guest Designer.
This week we have Carole of Brum
with us to share her beautiful gift box.
You can find her blog here.

Carole used the beautiful Peace image from the Angel Collection.
Isn't this just gorgeous!!

Now let's learn a little about Carole...
My name is Carole, and I’ve been making cards for about 5 years. I’m one of those crafters that took it up when ill-health forced a change of pace, but now I do it for it’s own sake. I absolutely love being part of the crafting community, both on forums large and small and also by blogging. I’ve met so many great people this way, many of whom have become good friends, and it’s also helped improve my skills as there is always something new to try and lots of friendly fellow-crafters willing to give pointers and advice. I’m also passionate about the therapeutic power of crafting, you hear so many stories from people who’ve taken it up during illness or how it helps them through the tough days…it’s a wonderful activity and I’m sure it keeps us sane sometimes. I started blogging in December of last year and I haven’t looked back because I’m liking my crafting more than ever now. The main techniques I enjoy are stamping, both rubber and digi, because this allows me to use colouring which it the thing I love most right now. I also like ageing and distressing, decoupage and embellishing. I’ve just got myself a box-maker, and this project as Guest Designer for Michelle Perkett Studios is the very first box I’ve made. I first found an MPS image (Lilly the Fairy of Enchantment) on someone else’s blog and immediately Googled it so I could get the image myself. I hope you like my project as Guest Designer. Happy crafting! Carole

Thanks so much Carole for being
our guest designer this week.
There is still time to join the Anything But a Card Challenge
this week. Just make sure you use a MPS image.

Rene van Wyk - Guest Designer

It's Thursday!!
Time for our new Guest Designer!
This week we have the very talented
Rene van Wyk
with us!

Rene has some fabulous cards to share with us!
First let's get to know her a little...

I live happily single in Cape Town, South Africa, work full time. My family & friends forms an important part of my life.
I have dabbled in crafts since I was 4 years old when I cut up my mum’s embroidered tray cloths for designer clothes for my dolls – haven’t stopped making doll’s clothes either. I’ve made cards most of my life, but the way I make them has changed through the years. Rubberstamping revolutionised my ideas, digital stamping is now a firm favourite and I find myself returning to making simple cards with minimum tools.

Michelle’s images were one of the first digital stamps I came across, so I feel quite honoured to be a guest designer using one of her fabulous mermaid images.

My style is eclectic and can suit the occasion. My own preference is simple, minimum elements, but interesting focal point. One can achieve that in different ways, with colour, embellishment, or a very striking image/photo. But then, if the occasion asks for more, I give it more. I don’t like to copy, I try to do my own thing. Other people inspire and influence me, but I hope that I have developed my own style.

Other crafts I do: Needlework & sewing: doll’s clothes, beading, crochet, knitting, quilting, digital scrapping, etc. My latest ‘other’ project was air drying clay and making my own stamps by doing lino-cutting.

I love combining my craft supplies, using beads on my cards, in my sewing or wool as embellishment somewhere.

Something about the cards I made:

The first one was made by cutting a mask and colouring the background with soft pastels, creating an under the sea effect. After removing the mask, I coloured Elisa Queen of the Sea in purples and a touch of orange. I went for a variety of yellows and browns for her hair. The white base card was lightly rubbed with the same aqua pastels. I matted the image and lastly added some glitters to compliment the image.

The second one was inspired by the background paper I used. The pattern reminded me of sea grass, but the fun part is that it is in shades of pink and light purple! I decided on colouring Elisa in very soft shades as if she’s really seen through water, The flowers I coloured in vibrant pinks. I added the sentiment. The edges were rubbed with pink, pearls were added and liquid pearl add shine to her hair. The image was mounted off-centre to the easel card to show more of the background.

It is always fun to work with Michelle’s images, and this time was not different.

Thanks so much Rene!! These are both beautiful.
Don't forget to join our Under the Sea
Challenge this week.
Our ONLY requirement is that you use
a Michelle Perkett Studios image!

Cleah Ordona - Guest Designer

It's Guest Designer time once again.

This week we are privileged to have Cleah Ordona with us.
She has two awesome creations to share with you, but first let's read a little bit about Cleah....

It's such a thrill for me to be a guest designer here! I am an accountant by profession but right now, I'm a full housewife to a very loving husband and mom to two sweet but sometimes demanding teenagers-son & daughter.
My first attempt at cardmaking was about 2 years ago when my daughter asked me to make cupcake-shaped cards for her classmates. I made my own design and they all love their cards. It was only last year when I discovered digital stamps and was amazed with the lovely designs from so many wonderful blogs one of which is Michelle Perkett Studios. By playing along with the challenges, it's true indeed that "Practice makes perfect."

Now take a look at these absolutely perfect cards...
for her creations.

There is still time to join our Wing challenge this week.
Just make sure you use a MPS image.

Stephanie George- Guest Designer

Hello! Welcome back to another super talented guest designer. This week we are lucky to have Stephanie George with us. She has created not one, not two, but three fabulous cards for us using Hannah the Flower Goddess!
Now let's read a little bit about Stephanie...

I have been crafting since I was 5 (or that is my last memory) when I made the duck out of popcorn kernels and construction paper...I think that just told my age. I am married and live in a small town in Indiana. I have a white Siberian Husky who is my child now (and she is spoiled) since my boys are grown and on their own. I have been making cards for my friends and family since I was 20 that were mostly quilling. Quilling is my passion. My grandmother taught me to keep my hands busy and out of her dishes while she was cooking. I am so glad to see it coming back into the crafting scene. I also enjoy Crocheting, knitting, plastic canvas and macrame.
 Thanks so much Stephanie!!

Now look at these fabulous creations

 Aren't these just gorgeous!!
Thanks Stephanie for being our Guest Designer this week.

ladies to be our Guest Designers each week!

with us,  to share her gorgeous work.

And here is a little about Mary....

And here is Mary's beautiful card...

for her Father's Day Card. Isn't it great. I love it!

Michelle Houghton - Guest Designer

Happy Thursday!! I am excited to introduce Michelle Houghton as this week's guest designer! She has created a beautiful card and scrapbook page to share with us.

But, first let's get to know Michelle a little bit better....

Hi! Michelle Houghton here, I am a wife to an amazing husband and mother of two beautiful girls in Iowa.  I am primarily a stay at home Mom but I teach aerobics at our local YMCA and teach online doodling and Copic classes for a site called Get It Scrapped.   In my life before motherhood I was an art teacher and I love continuing  to share my art through scrapbooking techniques.  I have been scrapbooking for about 14 years and coloring with Copic markers for about one year.  When I first tried Copics I fell in love and have since gotten my Certification and Intermediate Certification in them as well.  When the DT gals asked me to color a mermaid for this week I could not decide if I should go sultry or cute so I did one of both!
I want to apologize for not being around very much recently but I have been typing and photographing art work for my newest class in Copic Coloring for Get It Scrapped.  But, by the time this is posted I should be done and my editor should be putting the final touches on it!  I can let you in on a little secret about the class, Michelle Perkett is one of the featured artists and I will be giving a step by step for coloring one of her amazing images!
Thanks so much for inviting me to come play this week!  If you would like to see more of my work or hear more about the Copic class my blog is http://scrapweaver.blogspot.com.

Thanks Michelle, the class sounds like a lot of fun!

Look at this great scrapbook page. The sentiment is perfect!

And here is the close up of her gorgeous coloring of Harmony!

And look at this darling card with Cutie Patootie!

Thanks so much Michelle for sharing your talent with us!

We will be giving FOUR  of Michelle's digis to one lucky winner at the end of May who has entered all our challenges this month with their MPS images each week along with our weekly digi prize giveaway!

And here is a little about Shawna Rae...

I’m the mother of one amazing son (30 yrs old and married) and the Nana of two wonderful grandchildren (2 yr old boy, 1 yr old girl). Outside of my ‘little piece of heaven’, which is my scrap room, I’m an accountant. I have always had an interest in crafts. When I see something new, it’s exciting and I want to try it. It compares to the excitement of a child waking up on Christmas morning!! My current interests include card crafting, jewelry making, scrapbooking, painting of barn quilts… well the list could go on and on. Over the last year I have been inspired by the talented crafters that I follow on the internet to reach outside my comfort zone and try new things. I spend the majority of my free time in my scrap room.

Thanks so much Shawna for joining us and making such beautiful cards to inspire us.
We hope you join us this week for our  Mother's Day Challenge. We love to see what you create.
Don't forget to use an MPS image and you could be the lucky one who wins one of Michelle's images.

He is a joy and keeps us very busy.. I have lived in Maine my whole life and work as a Paralegal and my husband (Michael) is a 911 Dispatcher.

My Dear Husband just turned one of our spare bedrooms into a craft room for me. I often ask him if he regrets that as I spend so much time in there. I have been scrapbooking since my kids were babies, so about 24 years. I love stamps and enjoy coloring them with my Prismacolor Pencils then blending with mineral spirits. My favorite is just paper crafting in general, anything from cards, mini albums to explosion boxes. I love trying new projects and techniques.

Jen McLaughlin - Guest DT

We have another fabulous Guest DT for you this week.
Jen McLaughlin
And here is her beautiful creation using Thanks Mum...

Isn't this gorgeous!?! I love the purple!!

And here is a little bit about Jen...

I live in Bethpage, TN.  We've been here 5 years, but our hometown is Marysville, Washington, which is where most of our friends and family still are today.  I have two handsome sons, Nate is 20 and my youngest, Dennis is 17 and graduating this year.  Oh dear!!   I started scrapbooking when my kids were just learning to walk.  I am so thankful today that I took the time to do that.  Time goes by so fast and we often enjoy looking back and reminiscing on old times. It was one of those Creative Memories classes for me too.   One lesson and I was hooked!  I started card making just over a year ago and I'm addicted!  I'm not really sure what my style is because I like to try them all.  In the beginning I only used stamps and different forms of inking UNTIL.......I found digi's.  Will I ever be able to sell enough cards to cover the cost?  probably not!  Do I care? - NOPE!!  I love them too much.  As a young artist I enjoyed coloring and shading and was thrilled when I found an outlet for it today.    I started my own personal blog almost a year ago to keep up with all the challenges and meet new friends.   I 've met the most wonderful people from all over the world and thank God that I have them in my life.

Don't forget about the Thanks Mom Challenge this week.
A Michelle Perket Image is required.
One lucky winner will receive an image of their choice from Michelle's Etsy Store!
